2021 Di Giovanna 'Rufulia' PetNat
Western Sicily, Italy
Hazy, bright yellow colour. Loads of sweet Sicilian lemon, tart apple, green mango and papaya aromatics alongside lightly bready/yeasty complexions. The body is light and crisp, with refreshing acidity and bubbles. On the palate, there's tons of citrus, stone fruit, tropical fruit and delicate notes of fresh baked bread. There's a very delicate and highly pleasing 10 g/L of residual sugar to give it a light pop of sweetness on the palate.
2021 Valentina Passalacqua Progetto Calcarius 'Hellen' Orange
Puglia, Italy
The Hellen Orange is 100% Greco, an Italian varietal possibly of Greek origin. The wine is macerated on its skins for 15 days with spontaneous fermentation occurring and 6 months of aging in stainless steel tanks, on lees. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Highly aromatic with notes of ripe apricot, quince, blooming flowers, tremendous minerality and a hint of soy sauce lingering in the background. The body is light but textured with vivacious acidity and a crunchy quality to the fruit component. The minerality is pronounced and refreshing, with a lingering effect on a fairly long finish. Really complex but super super easy to drink.
2020 Villa Job Serious
Friuli, Italy
This 100% Refosco from Venezia Giulia is a natural, unextracted cuvée, it is herbaceous and lemony with notes of raspberry, cooked plum, and pretty aromas of dried flowers. On the palate, it has great acidity, like that of plump raspberries, and present, structured tannins. A mouthful of great freshness, similar to the winter wind during a lovely day on the slopes.
