Domaine des Corbillieres Griottines Gamay Loire

Domaine des Corbillières, Les Griottines, 2020

AOC Touraine, Loire, France

Dominique is the 4th successive generation of the Barbou family to helm the excellent estate in Touraine. Dominique's grandfather Fabel was the first to bring Sauvignon Blanc to their neck of the woods, having planted the varietal on a whim and discovering it's aptitude for the region. The domaine currently counts 28 hectares under its name in the village of Oisly, arguably the best terroir in Touraine.
As with the 2019 vintage, this is a super tasty, very fresh Gamay with a good amount of structure. The 2020 vintage is prominent with fresh red cherry that dominates the palate and aromatics. Absolutely delicious! The juicy cherry flavours are accompanied by more subtle notes of blackberry and strawberry. There's a hint of vegetation on this akin to strawberry leaf. Low intervention; fermentation with native yeasts and minimal sulphur added. Full of character, remember to serve with a light chill!
Food pairings: super quaffable on its own, great with a mixed grill, soft, full-flavoured cheese and fatty charcuteries.
