2019 J. Brix, Limestone + Schist Chardonnay Rorick Heritage Vineyard, Calaveras County, California

The fifth vintage of this wine is every good thing about California in a bottle, ready to show why the Golden State is so confoundingly magic. From Matthew Rorick’s iconic Wente-clone vines, planted in 1974 on their own roots, which plunge deep into the soils of limestone and schist in the land of skulls. This is a truly standout small-production Chardonnay that embodies what we love about California - it’s lemony, full of luscious tropical fruit goodness, and gives you loads of mineral delight and no overt oak. The Limestone + Schist Chardonnay is from organic own-rooted wines owned by Forlorn Hope’s Matthew Rorick, a good friend of winemakers Jody and Emily. Only 220 cases produced.

2019 Santini Collective Macon Villages
Auxey-Duresses, Burgundy, France

From natural Burgundy cult winemaker Chris Santini, a stunning and ethereal take on Macon. Bright and yet has all this lovely, hazy, oatmeal and nuttiness going on. Lemon-ginger tea, jasmine, cucumber, tonic water, cashews and saline minerality. Almost prickly with acidity or a light, barely there fizz too. Sings out of the glass. So pretty, so delicious, so vivacious! Leaps around the palate.
2018 Enfield Wine Co. Citrine Chardonnay
Napa Valley, California, USA

Enfield Wine Co. is the family project of John Lockwood and Amy Seese, with a focus on producing wines of personality. They do not subscribe to the ideal of the perfect wine, but to the notion that the very best wines tell a unique story. Driven by soil first and foremost, Enfield Wine Co. seeks out vineyards that possess a distinct and powerful sense of place – across region, grape variety, and vine age. This Chardo is a blend of 42-year-old own-rooted vines in the Sierra Foothills, 50-year-old vines from Napa, and fruit from Wild Horse Valley and Chalone. It is the
freshness of California sunshine framed by white mineral soils of limestone, quartz and volcanic ash. There are two distinct personalities to this wine. The first is a slightly reductive, flinty and mineral, palate with a zesty mouthfeel. The second is more bombastic, tropical fruited and juicy with crème fraîche and chive on the finish. Fragrant white tea, gummy bears, quince, lemon
balm, medium weight and tactile on the palate, saline mineral finish.
