2018 Failla Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

St. Helena, Napa, California
Vinous 91 pts

The fruit for this Sonoma Coast Chardonnay comes from the Olivet, Keefer Ranch and Flood Gate Vineyards. The grapes were whole cluster pressed into Concrete Egg (10%), Stainless Steel (20%), New French Oak Puncheon (10%) and Neutral French Oak (60%). Native yeasts are used for primary fermentation, and the wine naturally completes malolactic fermentation. It was aged sur lie for about 9 months before bottling. Winemaker Ehren Jordan encapsulates this 2015 perfectly when he says, "with its spine of sappy brightness and crystalline salinity, it displays all the dense, bright and savory appeal of the Sonoma Coast in this singular vintage. At once more textural and more filigreed, this is a laser focused expression of coastal fruit with citrus, coastal bay and a mineral depth that carries the mid-palate to a refreshing."

2019 J. Brix Limestone + Schist Chardonnay
Rorick Heritage Vineyard - Calaveras County
220 cases made

This is a truly standout small-production Chardonnay that embodies what we love about California - it’s lemony, full of luscious tropical fruit goodness, and gives you loads of mineral delight and no overt oak. The Limestone + Schist Chardonnay is from organic own-rooted wines owned by Forlorn Hope’s Matthew Rorick, a good friend of Jody and Emily.

Experience the rare and highly sought after wines from New California low-intervention producer, J.Brix. These soulful wines from Emily Towe and Jody Brix Towe are made with neutral vessels and native-yeast fermentation.

Their motto in wine, and in life in general, is "Only Love." This straightforward approach to living and winemaking reveals itself in each wine bottle.

2018 Enfield Citrine Chardonnay
California

A blend of 42-year-old own-rooted vines in the Sierra Foothills, 50-year-old
vines from Napa, and fruit from Wild Horse Valley and Chalone. It is the
freshness of California sunshine framed by white mineral soils of limestone,
quartz and volcanic ash. There are two distinct personalities to this wine. The
first is a slightly reductive, flinty and mineral, palate with a zesty mouthfeel.
The second is more bombastic, tropical fruited and juicy with crème fraîche
and chive on the finish. Fragrant white tea, gummy bears, quince, lemon
balm, medium weight and tactile on the palate, saline mineral finish.

Enfield Wine Co. is the family project of John Lockwood and Amy Seese, with a focus on producing wines of personality. They do not subscribe to the ideal of the perfect wine, but to the notion that the very best wines tell a unique story.

Driven by soil first and foremost, Enfield Wine Co. seeks out vineyards that possess a distinct and powerful sense of place – across region, grape variety, and vine age. Working only with small vineyards and independent growers, every step of the process is guided by the intent to maximize this character of terroir. Grapes are harvested for balance and the wines are all given the chance to ferment naturally.
