2020 Tenuta Macchiarola Bizona
Salento, Italy

100% organic and biodynamic Primitivo from the earliest harvest of grapes in Salento. Whole cluster, brief 8 day maceration, natural fermentation in stainless steel before aging in stainless and cement. Super bright, super fresh, 11-12% ABV Primitivo that is best served chilled. Nico calls it "Blue Wine" because of the distinct blue/violet color of the freshly run juice. Lively, light, playful, very fresh. The Bizona arises from Domenico Mangione’s desire to produce a Puglian red that eschews the traditional local style of Primitivo – fresh, drinkable, and more direct, with lower alcohol and the potential to be chilled in the cooler for 10 -15 minutes; essentially something that has vin de soif written all over it. Brimming with juicy blue/blackberry fruit, menthol and pine-y freshness – it’s taut, crushable, and ready to be put back with abandon!

2020 Normanno Ciello Rosso
Sicily, Italy

100% Nero D'Avola from organic vineyards in western Sicily, not far from Marsala, made naturally all in steel. Dark blue and purple fruit that's ripe, but not heavy. We love how much of a loop this wine throws you for with it's inky color but restrained weight and texture. Typically, Nero D'Avola produces much more intense interpretations with higher alcohol and more density/weight but this is perfect for any time, any day drinking. We adore this with pizza and pasta but you can also nightcap it after dinner.

Puglia, Italy

Tippi di Tenuta Macchiarola is a fresh and drinkable sparkling wine that comes from Primitivo grapes in pureza with the method of refermentation in the bottle. The aromas are fragrant and intense on the nose, while on the palate it is very fresh and balanced. A wine that has its freshness and ease of drinking. Excellent paired with salami appetizers, pasta dishes, fish main courses like swordfish chops cooked in sauce.
