2019 Opi D'Aqui Les Cliquets
Languedoc, France

This is a beautiful, whisper of Grenache Noir from Phillippe Formentin of Opi d’Aqui, who works around Clermont l’Hérault in Southern France’s Languedoc.
Named after the old click press used when Philippe started Opi d’Aqui. High-funk heaven! Light red in the glass will have you thinking of Poulsard though the palate carries a bit more heft. What a delicate, lively wine. Strawberry, montmorency cherries (see: tart), chestnut and white chocolate. Structured but flexible - pair with your favorite Sade album (but you’re wrong if it’s not “Love Deluxe” :) ). Hand-harvested grenache at it's best - like an adult juice box!

2017 Domaine Vinci Maquis
Agley Valley, Roussillon, France

Nestled in the rugged Agly Valley, west of Perpignan, Domaine Vinci’s 6 hectares of old-vine vineyards are surrounded by forest and rocky outcrops. The wines are profoundly mineral, with complexity and finesse, and perfectly express the wild terroir of this corner of Roussillon in the Côtes Catalanes. Olivier Varichon and Emmanuelle Vinci organically farm six hectares of vineyards, with parcels so isolated that they need not worry about chemical products from neighbors’ vineyards contaminating the rocky soils their vines call home. Maquis captivates with its raspberry flavour, its marked by delicious tannic grain. This cuvée is made from Lledoner Pelut and comes from organic vineyards between the villages of Opoul and Espira de l'Agly. The clay-limestone altitude terroir and a controlled yield give this vintage aromas of pepper, red fruits, and a smooth and full palate. The grapes are vinified in concrete vats and fermented with indigenous yeasts. No fining or filtration, just silky, juicy goodness.

2019 Opi D'Aqui L'Abricotier
Languedoc, France

This is one of the most revered natural wine producers in the world. Phillippe Formentin has crafted a cult winery in the south of France, celebrated for their no-nonsense approach to winemaking and the resulting wines. L’Abricotier is made from 100% Grenache, sourced from a single vineyard called “L’Abricotier”. This is totally unlike other Grenache wines from the south of France that are typically rich, weighty and high in alcohol. Phillippe uses semi-carbonic maceration in the winemaking process for L’Abricotier which intensifies the fruitiness of the wine while preserving the freshness and incredible aromatic intensity. Medium red in the glass like a Pinot Noir with intense red fruit aromatics and flavours. Fragrant red fruit, jam and some of the typical natural ‘funk’ with floral hints like roses and violets. Excellent acidity alongside the light-to-medium bodied mouthfeel. An excellent bottling from Phillippe that will delight natural wine aficionados.
