Castilla y Leon, Spain

Maria Pinacho teamed up with enologist Ana Martin to revive vines planted in 1945 by her grandfather and a 14th Century cellar that is truly lost in time. The soil dates to the Miocene Epoch with deposits from the Tertiary Era. This combines with the influence from the Atlantic Ocean and wildly divergent climate conditions to engender unique terroir. Grapes are hand harvested from a low-yielding 75 year old vineyard planted by Aurelio Pinacho. These 2 women are committed to being true stewards of the land creating minimal intervention unique single vineyard wines expressive of their wild and rustic terroir. An expressive earthy red blending fine mineralality and shady forest. Structured and balanced with great fruit character. Good acidity and a long finish.
