Calling Card, Chardonnay, 2018

Calling Card, Chardonnay, 2018

Anderson Valley, California

A blend of sites from Boonville, Philo, and the Deep End. Hand-picked around 23 Brix at the end of September 2018; received by the winery before dawn for hand-sort. Whole-cluster pressed in a Coquard device; Fermentation completed in 100% neutral French oak barrels, followed by partial malolactic fermentation and no batonnage. Unfined and filtered only at bottling.

Medium-intensity lemon with flecks of green on the rim. Pronounced aromas of fresh lemon-tree blossom, jasmine, Asian pears, vanilla custard, toasted ripe pineapple, fresh ripe apricot, fresh ripe honeydew melon, cinnamon, and key lime pie. Fresh, zesty acidity balanced by smooth, moderate alcohol and medium+ body. A pronounced flavor intensity with a long finish.
