Languedoc, France
Pays d'Oc IGP
This is a phenomenal family-run estate in the south of France, near the medieval city of Carcassonne, with woodland and garrigue covering two thirds of the domaine - and much of the land beyond that - providing a refuge for migratory birds and wild animals, as well as a healthy ecological protection for the interspersed 26 hectares of vine plots.
Le Pur Sans Grenache is one of the latest entries into the limited edition Collection series. Just 5300 bottles produced for this vintage. Winemaking was completed in stainless steel tanks to maintain the freshness of the fruit. The wine is broad and rich, as is typical of southern French Grenache, with tons of ripe red fruits on the nose and palate. This is bursting with jammy strawberry, punchy cherry and fresh raspberry fruitiness overtop of herbaceousness, snappy spiciness and a slightly smoky game meat character that lingers delicately in the background. The wine is soft and silky to drink with delicate tannins and a needed hit of balancing acidity.
Perfect with roasted meats and vegetables.
