Patagonia, Argentina
A micro-winery founded by Agustín Lombroni with a focus on small-scale production of Pinot Noir in the highlands of Patagonia. The rugged terrain and high elevations play a crucial role in these wines, coming from a region that is starting to turn heads with its ethereal, lively interpretations of Pinot.
Gently extracted, aged in used French oak, undergoing malolactic fermentation and resting in barrel for 9 months before bottling. While the fruit component is prominent, especially of blueberries and wild strawberries, there's also lovely florality, spice and intense minerality at the forefront. It's delicate and wild all at the same time. Untamed, in a sense, but refined and elegant in another. Structurally, the wine is balanced with acidity and light, crisp tannins. A soft but generous wine with lots to say about its place of origin.
Really fun wine to have alongside goose, rabbit or duck. For something a little less intense in food prep, a beet and goat cheese salad will do the trick very nicely. Or you can stick to some other classics like roasted chicken or seared salmon.
