This 3 pack contains one bottle of each of the following wines:

An estate established in 1978 by Jean-Gérard Guillot and Jacqueline Broux, but with a more significant history dating back to the 1950s. During those earlier times, Jean-Gérard's parents, Pierre and Jeannine, had created the first organic vineyard in Burgundy, in 1954. Pierre, who was a notary in Paris during The Second World War, was taken prisoner by the Nazis when they occupied the city but escaped and fled south to the "free zone" in southern Burgundy. There, he asked questions about agricultural practices and came to make the shocking discovery that many of the pesticides used in the vineyards were developed in the concentration camps of Nazi Germany. Together with Max Léglise, head of the French National Institute for Agricultural Research and Jules Chauvet, the Godfather of Natural Wine, they set out to make great organic wines.

Today, the estate is managed by brothers Emmanuel and Patrice, who took over from their father after his passing in 2008. Emmanuel assumed the role of winemaker, while Patrice is vineyard manager.

2019 Mâcon-Cruzille Gamay
Mâcon-Cruzille AOC

A gorgeous Gamay from the Mâcon-Cruzille AOC with balance and complexity. A fairly intense nose of sour cherry, pomegranates, strawberry and redcurrants backed by undertones of delicate mushroom and earth. Light tannins, moderate acidity and a long finish make this exceptional for juicy, crisp Gamay. Can be served at cellar temperature or slightly chilled, alongside grilled chicken, grilled pork, pizza or a plate of medium-strong cheeses like Mimolette.

2021 Les Genièvrières Chardonnay
Mâcon-Cruzille AOC

Coming from eastern-facing vineyards, in the village of Grevilly, on a steep hillside and sitting on deep soil due to a break in the limestone bedrock. The vineyard encompasses approximately 2.7ha and results in a total production just shy of 20,000 bottles. The Chardonnay spends 11 months in oak barrels and has enticing notes of pear, green apple, apricot, butter, vanilla and slight oak spice. It has a stony minerality and a lush texture with beautiful acidity. This has cellaring potential of 10-15 years. Absolutely stunning expression. Perfect on its own, with creamy pasta or with scallops poached in butter.

2021 Les Genièvrières Pinot Noir
Bourgogne AOC

Comes from plantings in the same vineyard location as the Chardonnay but from only 1.9ha, and with production limited to less than 10,000 bottles per year. The Pinot Noir spends 11 months in oak barrels. It opens with sweet red raspberry and cherry, following through into a red plum and cassis note and closing with vibrantly fragrant floral character. This has weight and texture too, with lively acidity and slightly chalky tannins. The finish has just a hint of salinity over top of a note of damp earth. This will reward patience in the cellar with 10-15 years of aging potential. Serve at cellar temperature and decant at least an hour ahead of drinking. Best with meat pies, like classic tourtière, salmon, gouda cheeses, grilled chicken or beef, or game meat like deer and venison.
