A collaboration between Cascina Iuli and enologist Gianluca Ravizza of Azienda Agricola Gaia. Gaia has 43ha of land in the Monferrato and Summer and Fabrizio, of Cascina Iuli, have been renting vineyards from them for almost a decade. In recent years, they accelerated their partnership by working more closely with Gianluca on different projects and labels. Prima Piuma is the natural progression of their collaborations, born out of a desire to produce fun, fresh wines for every day drinking.
Vines are all farmed organically in the hills of Monferrato and a low-intervention winemaking approach is applied in the cellars. The Bianco is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling with a touch of Timorasso. Fermentation is completed without maceration, in stainless steel tanks and with native yeasts. Maturation in concrete with no fining and minuscule amounts of sulfites added only at bottling.
Aromatic and intense with tons of ripe pear, green apple, lemon pith and apricot. Crisp and bone-dry with a slightly savoury finish leaning into the herbal and vegetative side of things. Super refreshing, light and very, very easy to drink.
