Toscana IGT, Italy
Randagio is a word for stray, paying homage to a smaller one-eyed version of Sean “Il Guercio” O’Callaghan in the form of a little guercino seen on this label. This is the same winemaking as Carleone’s other bottle, “Il Guercio,” but the blend gets a heavy dose of Cabernet Franc and Merlot with a small amount of Sangiovese.
There are whole bunches in this wine and cement tanks used; no barrels here. Spiced nose, wild blackberries, complex layers, perfectly polished tannins and a fresh, very invigorating acid wire. Fresh, fruity and harmonious.
One of our absolute faves of 2021! So, so delicious.
